LA Riots- Uffie

Yesterday started out crappy and ended up awesome. At four a.m. I hadn't slept a lick, and I had only fifteen minutes to pack everything I needed for this upcoming term at college. It wasn't that I didn't have enough time (I did) that bothered me, but rather the fact that packing in general sucks. Anywho, it all ended up pretty super duper 'cause it concluded with me arriving at school. This is good for a few reasons. First, I get to see a bunch of my friends that've been living dull summers in wherever they're from again. Second (and infinitely more importantly, obviously), it's a congregation of kids who all just wanna get wankered. Ah, I've missed this place.

Anywho, I figured I should post a track that really captures the essence of what I'm going through right now. As it's the beginning of the term, the song should clearly be about kicking things off. Since the vast majority of my time here should be spent drinking (studying's for the weak, no?), the jam needs to be party-oriented. And since this is year two, why not make it a remix? By this point I'm sure Breck knows exactly where I'm going with this (and is entirely disgusted by me); for the rest of you, I'm talking about Justice's "The Party," L.A. Riots style.

We threw up a remix these dudes did of Justice's "D.V.N.O." a while back, and you greedy bums gobbled it up like nobody's business. So why not do it again? The dudes stagger Uffie's lines into a heap of stuttering messes paired with a few legitimately decipherable lyrics. It's a neat lil' gig, 'cause it not only thrills those that count themselves fans of the gal (i.e. me), but also chops 'em up enough to keep even the most devout haters (i.e. Pitchfork) content. The beat's also spunked up enough that this is no longer a decelerated ditty, but rather a bangin' dance track. Check it:

Let's all remember the fantastic alternate version of "The Party" that first surfaced on a DJ Mehdi podcast some time ago. At the time I thought it was just the best Uffie track I'd ever heard, but after her camp announced that it wasn't in fact her own song, rumors began circulating that it was off of . Well, close enough.

Anyhow, this version is absolutely killer. The beat is quirky but relatively clean. It's also a ton faster than that which made the final cut for the album, so it's infinitely more accessible and movement-inspiring. To be entirely honest, not hearing this jam when the record dropped was the heaviest of my minimal disappointments with the Parisian boys. God, I'm hopelessly obsessed with this tune. Dig this:
